ISLAMIC, Umayyad Caliphate. Uncertain period (post-reform), AH 77-132 / AD 697-750. Fals (Bronze, 19 mm, 3.06 g, 6 h), Darʿa, undated. Within three concentric dotted circles, ‘lā ilāha / illā Allāh / waḥdahū’ (‘There is no deity but Allah, the One’ in Arabic). Rev. Within a central dotted circle, ‘Muḥammad / rasūl A/llāh’ (‘Muhammad is the messenger of Allah’ in Arabic); star to the lower left; in the margin, ‘bism All[āh ḍuriba hādhā] al-fals bi Darʿā’ (‘In the name of Allah. This fals was struck in Darʿa’ in Arabic). Album 173. Very rare and with attractive earthen highlights. Light areas of weakness and with two minor edge cracks, otherwise, very fine.
